Our Hope is to honor Karen.
Karen was killed December 6th in Decatur Georgia, walking from a local restaurant to her car. She was 44 years old. Karen was a resident of Smyrna, a stylist at True Salon, a student pursuing a nursing degree, a daughter, sister, friend. A kind, warm soul. We will never be able to replace what Karen brought to those around her, and to her community, but this is an effort with that as it’s goal. We hope to create a scholarship in her name that will outlast us all.
A warrant for Aeman Presley was issued Dec 11th by the Decatur DA charging him with her murder. Presley is currently in the DeKalb County jail on 2 other murder charges. While we are devastated by this tragedy, Karen’s friends and family want to honor her by doing something she would have believed in. The outpouring of support from all over the east coast, including those who knew and were touched by Karen, to those who simply offer kind words, has been overwhelming. We have been humbled by the extent to which she touched lives.
There was a CrimeStoppers reward fund, set up December 10th, in an effort to encourage anyone with information about Karen’s killer to come forward. The fund raised over $6000 in 24 hours. We are awaiting updates from the courts and the Decatur PD regarding the charges against Presley.
